ABOUT SOUTH MALIPPURAM:
South Malipuram is known as a muddy
slum area in Elankunnappuzha Panchayath near Vypin area where 1500+ people
living in 300-400 families having 295 houses. 105 houses are in perishing state.
The people living here are migrants from Fort Kochi & Mattancherry Street
area and not having a means of daily living. Few of them are going to fishing harbor
and few are going to LNG terminal for daily living. Mostly the Malipuram people
are very backward in socially, financially and culturally. Gents were addicted
to alcohol and drugs; children are not focused on education and used to
discontinue their education in upper primary or high school levels. Ladies are
also not educated, but few of them are going for jobs like sales girls job for
managing the family.
ABOUT SMART PROJECT:
Vision: South Malipuram Rehabilitation Project (smart)- is a long
term project envisioned for 10 year (2013 to 2023) with vision of empowering
the malipuram community by Total Development
in Education, Health, drinking water, social, financial and moral aspects of
the Malipuram community.
Objectives:

Women Empowerment (Vocational Job Training
for Children and ladies)

House Construction
1. Education:
·
Ensure high quality pre-primary education to all
children in Malipuram
·
Ensure all children are reaching till SSLC grade
without any drop-outs. Ensure all are getting pass marks in SSLC
·
Make 25 post graduates and 50 graduates in 10
year timeline
·
Make 25 government, semi government professionals
in 10 year
2. Women Empowerment:
·
Continuous education for House wives
·
Computer literacy and computer job training
·
Micro finance and vocational training, home based jobs/small businesses
3. House Construction:
·
For 95 houses re-construction is pending,
expected cost of each houses is Rupees 3-4 Lakh

Smart project status

Among 105 perishing houses, 10 houses are built
in the places of 10 huts using the support of Baithu zakkath Kerala
·
For providing high quality pre-primary education
to children a small facility started named ‘GRACE Montessori Primary School’
with the support of Chief Facilitator EDMAQ Qatar

Children and Adults
·
Started an arts and sports club named “Thathamma
kkoottam” for talent building for the children
·
Play ground for physical fitness
